The XM5s also stand out on the audio side with a wide soundstage that can give the various elements of a track space to breathe and shine. For instance, on Billie Eilish's Bad Guy, the drums pound with a satisfying force and heft as singing voices soaring reverberate across the mix. Other features that make the XM5s stand out include their intelligent interactions with your smartphone. They will detect the moment they're taken off your head and pause music, they can detect that you're driving on a noisy road and automatically reduce the noise cancelling volume and pair with two devices at once to switch between them based on what you need urgently. The WH-1000XM5s also have a low environmental impact. They are made of recycled plastic and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and the headband being made of premium fabric. The Bose headphones come with a battery that lasts for 20 hours, they are easier to charge and can still be used with a phone even if the battery is dead. The design is a bit heavy and the earcups rattle when you move. The controls are simple to use and have tactile buttons which provide a good clicky feedback. The WH-CH720N is among the most affordable headphones for wireless noise cancelling headphones available on the market. The earbuds are equipped with the latest Qualcomm chip, which ensures that background noises, clicks, and other distractions are kept to bay. This is the case even when talking on the London Underground during rush hour. The earbuds' Bluetooth connectivity is also very good, with little to any issues during our testing. They connect quickly and with minimal latency to iOS and Android devices. They are also IPX5 water resistant, so they're fine for rain and exercise - though you shouldn't submerge them in water.
